Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) is a polymer material filling the property gap between engineering plastics of high hardness and stiffness and rubbers showing elasticity with low hardness. TPE can be molded with general molds used for plastics by plasticizing at high temperature.
SK Chemicals produces two types of TPE; thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) under the brand name of SKYTHANE and thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) as SKYPEL.

SKYTHANE is the registered trade name of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) manufactured by SK Chemicals.
Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU) being the bridge between rubbers and plastics, it has innovative potentials for uses requiring special advantages such as transparency, elasticity, durability, and resistance to chemical attack in addition to its excellent physical and mechanical properties.

With these characteristics, SKYTHANE is widely used for automotive parts and various industrial parts and it can be fabricated into various shapes and forms by conventional techniques.

SKYPEL is the registered trademark of polyester-based thermoplastic engineering elastomer (TPEE ) manufactured by SK Chemicals.
SKYPEL has the properties of both rubbers and engineering plastics, thus filling the gap between these classes of materials.
SKYPEL can be processed to a wide variety of products from ultra small precision parts to spread sheets by injection, extrusion, and others.

SKYPEL is a block copolymer consisting of hard crystalline phase and soft amorphous phase and the relative proportions of the two phases determine the property.
SKYPEL ranging over broad hardness spectrum offers excellent features such as toughness, resilience, resistance to creep, impact and flex-fatigue, flexibility at low temperature, thermal stability at elevated temperature, and resistance to many industrial chemicals, oils and solvents.

SKYTHANE

SKYTHANE R&D developed environmental friendly products like calendering TPU for substitution of phthalate-plasticized PVC, which contains restricted material. We are also developing new products for special purpose.
We have R&D, T/S ability enough to support customers’ needs.

SKYPAL

New SKYPEL products with special functionality, such as increased heat resistance or oil resistance, are under development while researches on formulation for specific uses and post processing are in progress simultaneously.
